The 40th Annual Brooklyn St. Patricks Day Parade is happening this Sunday, March 15th, 2015 @ 1:00 PM through Park Slope. Unlike the bigger Manhattan parade, the Brooklyn organizers encourage neighbors, bands, bag pipes and dancers to participate in the parade in order to help celebrate all that is Irish.
The Brooklyn Irish American Parade Committee was formed in 1975. The aim of the Parade was to honor the patron of Ireland, St. Patrick, to remember the Battle of Brooklyn and to pay tribute to the Irish for their many significant and historic contributions to our Borough, City, State and Nation. "Faith, Heritage, History, Tribute & Remembrance" became the core of the Parade.
The parade route is a relatively short one, so get there on time.
The procession begins at 1pm from 15th Street and Prospect Park West, then travels down 15th Street to 7th Avenue, along 7th Avenue to Garfield Place, up Garfield Place to Prospect Park West, and then back along Prospect Park West to 15th Street.
