Founded in 1937, the world famous Carnegie Deli is a true New York City landmark for tourists and locals alike. Situated in Midtown Manhattan adjacent to Carnegie Hall, the deli has provided mile-high pastrami sandwiches to generations of New Yorkers.
Carnegie Deli is the quintessential New York City deli, a family owned and operated landmark with over seventy years experience serving New Yorkers and out-of-towners the traditional, old world deli menu that made it famous.
On Friday, the Deli closed it's door to the public… at least temporarily. Daily News reports that the business has been closed due to an illegal gas line hookup.
Con Edison has been cracking down on illegal hookups and surprise inspections since last months East Village Explosion was caused by an illegal hookup.
No word yet on when Carnegie Deli will reopen.
