Episode 3 of the Fascinating Video Series Focusing on New York City's Forgotten Dutch Roots

YouTube channel New Netherland Now is a channel dedicated to shining a spotlight on America's forgotten Dutch colonial past. Not only here in New York City, but all across the area we know now as New England, the Dutch were here first and established their own colony. In this third video of a 4-part series, learn about a forgotten American founding father: Adriaan van der Donck.

If you think the United States was just the result of group of conservative pilgrims fleeing persecution, you're wrong. Part of the United States can be traced to the revolutionary, free and open Dutch Republic. And no American exemplified the spirit from that time as well as Adriaan van der Donck, who foresaw what New Amsterdam, now New York, could one day become.
