Sheep Meadow is a 15 acre lawn in Central Park, the biggest exposed lawn in the park. It took it's name from the flock of Dorset and Southdown sheep that were kept on the meadow from 1864 until 1934. When the sheep didn't do a good enough job at keeping the gas neat and trim, the City sometimes got camels to pull lawn mowers and do it instead.
