We post a lot about cute subway dogs in bags here on Viewing NYC, but unfortunately, not all dog owners in New York City abide by the MTA's rules. One prime example of how not to take your dog on the subway is this careless owner, who brought his Pit Bull onto the subway without a bag or carrier of any kind or a muzzle. Though it seems the dog might have been provoked for being allowed to be on the seat, the Pit Bull ended up attacking a woman's foot and biting the shoe off. It was an entirely preventable scenario had the owner properly crated the dog while on the subway.
Police are investigating after a pit bull viciously attacked a woman on a New York City subway last week. On Friday, a straphanger was standing on the 4 train when the dog, which was on the owner’s leash, latched onto the rider’s foot and would not let go. Other riders tried to free the woman’s foot from the dog’s tightly-clenched mouth. Authorities are now trying to identify the dog's owner. One veterinarian explained how you could escape a dog’s attack in such a closed space.
