How Jiro Dreams of Sushi's Apprentice is Making His Mark at Nakazawa in the West Village

Sushi Nakazawa is a small sushi restaurant that has been open for almost two years in the West Village.

Despite being a relative newcomer on the New-York-sushi-block, Sushi Nakazawa has the distinction of being one of only 6 restaurants that Pete Wells and the New York Times food reviewers have given 4-stars to, the highest possible rating.

Restauranteur Alessandro Borgognone and Japanese chef Daisuke Nakazawa came together after Borgognone watched the movie Jiro Dreams of Sushi on Netflix, where Nakazawa was an 11-year apprentice to Master Sushi Chef Jiro.

So, how perfect is Sushi Nakazawa's nigiri? Eater's Kat Odell scores a bar seat to find out. And just for the record, Nakazawa's tamagoyaki is on point.
