This amazing vintage photograph from about 1900 shows the Brooklyn Bridge, East River and the industrial waterfront as seen from up high in the Financial District, all in an incredible level of high-resolution detail.
Check out the steps that used to be on the bridge's walkway, and how the trains used to cross where the cars do now. There are tons of factories and warehouses that existed in what is now Brooklyn Bridge Park.
North of the bridge, you can see even the old sugar refineries up the river a bit, only a few years before the Manhattan Bridge construction would clear them out.
