HYPEBEAST has teamed up with The Compound, a creative studio located in the birthplace of hip-hop, New York City, on Compound Conversations – a series of interviews in a surreal space curated by SetFree. Having served as the setting for the past seven conversations, we finally gain some insight into the creation process of The Compound from its founder, Set Free Richardson. Combining disparate aspects of pop and urban street culture, including a 1981 Pacman arcade machine, collector’s vinyl toys from KAWS, and a chalk mural by Ron English, Richardson’s vision of the space is tied together by the iconic Star Wars, specifically the admirably mercenary nature of bounty hunter Boba Fett. Watch the video above for a walkthrough of Richardson’s creative process from the designer himself.
