New York based artist Lesley Flanigan creates amazing audio art installations that feature her own instruments of her own design, along with her voice to create drone-like aural textures that layer upon each other to create an intimate experience. More on her process and motivations from her website:
Inspired by the physicality of sound, she builds her own instruments using minimal electronics, microphones and speakers. Performing these instruments alongside traditional instrumentation that often includes her own voice, she creates a kind of physical electronic music that embraces both the transparency and residue of process — sculpting sound from a palette of noise and subtle imperfections.
Her live work has been featured in major museums around the world, including these hour-long ones from a recent exhibition at the Guggenheim entitled "Residue".
