The massive Citi Bike expansion which plans on nearly doubling the number of bikes and docking stations around the City is currently in it's planning stages. To determine locations of new stations, Citi Bike has solicited input and used the public's suggestions to help decide where new stations should go.
Long Island City will be one of the first expansion areas, as it was supposed to be part of the initial rollout, but complications and equipment damage after Hurricane Sandy delayed it's launch until later this Summer.
Using data from the public input, and combining it with planned existing locations, Citi Bike has announced the locations of 11 docking stations which will be placed in LIC, the first available in Queens.
