Lucky is a new documentary from director and journalist Laura Checkoway that follows a homeless mother and her son living on the streets of New York City over the course of 6 years.
Masked in tattoos and armed with an indomitable spirit, Lucky Torres has forged a path all her own. Spanning five years, this intimate survival story delves deep into the fringes of NYC to reveal a life etched in wounds, longing, resilience and dreams. Lucky Torres masks a lifetime of abuse and abandonment behind an angry, tattooed exterior. Growing up in foster care, Lucky and her sister Fantasy have been searching for stability all their lives. While her sister has settled down, Lucky still hasn't found her way. But despite being homeless, unemployed and a single mother, jumping from girlfriend to girlfriend, the compelling Lucky still dreams of true love and success.
The film will be released on December 8th by Virgil Films on all digital platforms, so definitely check it out for an in-depth look at what life looks like on the City streets.
