DNAinfo recently published an article about the overcrowding in City schools (is there ever really any other type of crowding?) and compiled this interactive map that let's you quickly check out the overcrowding stats for your school district. Listed on each district is the number of overcrowded seats as well as the number of seats planned by 2024, according to a report from the Independent Budget Office. The result is nothing to celebrate.
Nearly half of New York City's public schools are overcrowded, and the thousands of new seats in the pipeline won't be enough to fix the problem, a new analysis of city data shows. The city's public schools were nearly 75,000 seats short in 2013, with overcrowding posing a problem across the five boroughs, according to a report by the Independent Budget Office.
Check out the accompanying article on DNAinfo for more analysis and anecdotes about the City's overcrowded school districts.
