The New York City Ballet is one of the most famous and largest ballet companies in the world. With such an emphasis on major productions at the Lincoln Center and elsewhere, it's hard to believe that they also have an in-school education program to teach grade school children to enjoy ballet and dance, as well as experience professional ballet firsthand.
In New York City Ballet's in-school residency programs, students and educators learn how ballet is an accessible art form relevant to their daily lives. Aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards and the New York City Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Dance, these programs promote student-centered, experiential, and interdisciplinary approaches to learning, and each is facilitated by professional dance educators.
Check out NYCB in the Classroom for more information on the program.
