Nearly half of New York State's 20 million residents live in New York City. The economic center of the state is here, most of the sports, food, culture, and attractions are all within the five boroughs. But there is more to this state than New York City, and that is "upstate". Over the past few years, pollsters have been asking New York residents to define where "upstate" begins, and The Washington Post recently collected all of these responses and published a great in-depth article analyzing them. We at Viewing NYC firmly believe that "upstate" begins once you leave The Bronx.
