Tech giant Ars Technicha recently visited Sunset Park in Brooklyn to tour New York City's newest recycling center and sorting facility. Most of the process is completely automated by giant machines. When the bags of combined recycling enter the facility, they are placed on large conveyor belts. As they move through the factory on the belts, metal is pulled out using giant magnets, plastics are scanned and sorted by molecular structure, shredders mulch the plastic in to bite-sized pieces. It's interesting to see what the other end of our City trash looks like.
