Notify NYC is New York City's official emergency alert system. Once you setup a free account, you add your address or intersection and when relevant, information pertaining to your location is broadcast directly to you via email, text message, or phone on any of the following subscribeable topics:
- Emergency Alerts
- Emergency Parking Suspension
- Major Mass Transit Disruptions
- Major Traffic Disruptions
- Public Health Notifications
- School Notifications
- Significant Events
- Weather Emergencies
You can add multiple addresses for home, work, friend's and family residences, etc... You can sign up for notifications online or in their brand new iOS and Android apps.
The Notify NYC mobile application — free for iOS and Android operating systems — gives you up-to-the-minute information about emergency situations and/or planned events in New York City. By enabling location services, you will be informed about emergency activity around you wherever you are in the city.
