New York City based artist Shani Ha creates art that focuses on social behavior and it's relationship to comfort and conviviality. Her newest piece, titled Table For Two, is a functional art installation which places a coffee shop table halfway indoors, halfway outdoors separated by glass.
Screens have invaded our everyday life becoming our main medium to communicate. In the same way, the glass that crosses through the table and separates the two seats becomes a screen that both connects and isolates, and through which people get to communicate spontaneously.
Being a Winter installation, the contrast between the indoor and outdoor environments could not be any wider, with outdoor patrons bundled up in full winter snow gear for the cold, dark exterior, and indoor patrons sipping comfortably in a warm, inviting environment. You can catch the installation at Ayza in the West Village until March 14th, 2015.
