The Lowline is an urban enrichment program that plans to place a naturally lit underground park in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Originally based on the success of the The High Line, co-founders Dan Barasch and James Ramsey have been planning the park for several years. Check out Dan's excellent Ted Talk on the project.

On Thursday, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen and NYCEDC President Maria Torres-Springer announced that the agency has selected the Lowline team to turn the abandoned former Williamsburg Bridge Trolley Terminal into the world’s first underground park.
