The New York Times has created an whimsical interactive article about the history of commuting in New York City. The article starts with "phrenzy" of the Brooklyn Ferry in 1814 and goes up to today's Citi Bike revolution. Each transportation mode they highlight has a cute video attached to it and a short blurb about the City's reaction to the new mode of commuting.
