Over the past year, there has been much talk about adding a congestion pricing plan in Manhattan to help reduce traffic. It would charge drivers who drive through Manhattan during peak hours, providing an incentive to find alternate routes or times for transit, as well as providing a little bit of extra revenue to the City. The proposals usually meet a lot of resistance, but something needs to be done to reduce the current, unsustainable traffic levels.
