Every once in a while, the City's park rangers give tours of amazing landmarks found through New York. Tomorrow, June 6th from 1pm to 4pm, NYC Parks will be giving tours of Jeffrey's Hook Lighthouse, better known as the "Little Red Lighthouse" in Washington Heights.
Urban Park Rangers specialize in interpretation of historic turning points, both natural and man-made, in our city's long history. The Jeffrey's Hook Lighthouse, erected in 1880 and moved to its current site in 1921, has become widely known as the children's literary landmark "The Little Red Lighthouse." A Ranger will be on hand to provide information about the history of this unique landmark.
It's first come, first served and free, so get there early if you want to peek inside. Check out the event page for more information.
