Le Boudoir is a cocktail bar that is tucked away in on of the most unique settings in all of New York: An abandoned subway tunnel. The oldest in New York, this once-lost subway tunnel was rediscovered a few decades ago by urban explorer Bob Diamond, who offered tours inside for years. In 2010 however, the City revoked Diamond's tour license and sealed the tunnel once again. That is, until the owners of restaurant Chez Moi decided to take a sledgehammer to their basement's back wall. Now, you can enjoy cocktails in an impressive vaulted space full of Brooklyn history.
Originally an unfinished attempt from the early 1900s, the now defunct Atlantic Tunnel got its second life when Brooklynite Bob Diamond heard rumors of it's existence and rediscovered it in 1980- leading tours of the underground cave for almost 30 years. The city took Bob's permit, but curious souls wanting to experience the tunnel's history can experience it with a drink at Le Boudoir.
