Elementary School P.S. 55 Benjamin Franklin in the South Bronx has an innovative program that is teaching urban farming to kids 5 days a week. Educator Stephen Ritz helps the class grow their own vegetables and serves them as lunch, as well as distributing the extras home to families. More than 50,000 pounds of vegetables later, he has figured out how to bring the magic of gardening into the heart of the school day for students of all ages.
