Our friends over at Bowery Boogie recently found this great vintage film from the 1940s showing the luxurious check-in process of the (then) state-of-the-art La Guardia airport.
Note how everyone in the shot is dressed to the nines. High society. To afford a plane ticket in the 1940s, you had to be. A flight from New York to Kansas City around this time would cost approximately $52, or $440 in today’s dollars.
See the accompanying article for more about the clip.
