In this vintage photograph snapped in 1908 from an unknown photographer, we see some City workers digging in the street with a young, barefoot boy looking on. In 1the 1900's, this area was the heart of Jewish culture in New York, evidenced by the duplication of all signs into Hebrew. Sadly, much of the culture on Delancey St. has disappeared… this same block today looks like this.
