This great vintage photograph from around 1905 shows Madison Square Park, Fifth Avenue, and Flatiron Plaza all from a vantage point within the Flatiron Building, only recently constructed in 1902. Here is a Google StreetView of a similar viewpoint today, taken from ground level.
