Every summer, Bryant Park screens free outdoor movies to the public on its lawn. To ensure moviegoers don't camp out all day on the lawn to reserve spots, the park clears the entire lawn until minutes before the movie, when a chaotic-rush of picnic blankets and lawn chairs descend upon the lawn, filling it within seconds.
In this video from Gothamist video producer Jessica Leibowitz, see what this chaos looks like on the first movie night of the season.
"The lawn is now open," a woman announces in a calm, steady voice similar to one you'd hear in Hunger Games, right before everyone tries to kill each other.
