The streets of Manhattan are tough on a horse’s feet. To ensure that the horses of the Mounted Unit are never uncomfortable on the job, the NYPD employs three full-time horseshoers. One of them is Marcus Martinez, the blacksmith who keeps the 10-foot cops of Manhattan’s Troop B on their toes.
