Divya Anantharaman is an award-winning taxidermist living in Brooklyn that transforms ethically-sourced animals into ethereal creations. In this short video from New York Magazine, peek inside her studio and see her process.
Within a nondescript wood-frame house in Brooklyn, Divya Anantharaman oversees an unlikely menagerie: she is a taxidermy artist, one who transforms dead animals into ethereal, fantastic works of art. Anantharaman practices “sustainable taxidermy,” meaning all animals that she uses are naturally deceased, or discards from sustainable farming and food services. Ahead of Wunderkammer, a taxidermy showcase coming up on October 25, the artist lets us into her colorful space to show us how she breathes life into dead creatures.
